庚申塔（塚）は中国から伝えられた道教に由来する庚申信仰の行事を連続開催（３年に18回）した記念として建てられたようです。
It seems that the Koshin Tower(Mound) was built to commemorate the continuous holding(18 times in years) of Koshin faith events derived from Taoism transmitted from China.
その庚申信仰が面白い。
That Koshin faith is unique.
人間の体内にサンシと言う虫が住んでいる。
An Insect called Sanshi lives in the human body.
庚申の日の夜に人間が寝ていると、その虫が天帝のところに行って、人間が犯した悪事を報告する。
When a human is sleeping on the night of Koshin Day, the insect goes to the Emperor of Heaven and reports the evil comitted by the human.
人間は、虫にそうはさせまいと、庚申の日には天帝や青面金剛などの神仏を祀り、寝ずにお祈りしたり宴会をしたりするのが習わしとなったと言うのです。
It is said that it has become a custom for humans to worship gods and Buddhas such as the Emperor of Heaven and Blue-faced Kongo on the day of Koshin, pray without sleeping and have a banquet so that the insect can not do so.
こうしんは庚申山（滋賀県甲賀市水口町）にちなんで調整した和菓子（求肥のお餅で小豆こし餡を包み、ふやきで挟み込んだお菓子）
筆者後記
二日延べ１５時間ほど草刈り（笹刈り）に精を出しました。笹で通せんぼのところが無くなり、やっと家の周りを一周することができるようになりました。
